Our Story...
In 2008, PAPA was founded on a simple philosophy:
“To produce family-friendly theatrical productions that entertain, enrich, and strengthen our community, while creating opportunities for social connection, and intellectual and emotional growth.”
Located near Long Beach, Washington, PAPA found its home overlooking the mouth of the mighty Columbia River. Our theater lives inside a historic ordnance building, constructed in 1896 and set within Fort Columbia State Park, a place where history and creativity meet.
From this unique setting, PAPA brings the world of music and theater to both locals and visitors alike. Our productions are powered by an incredible community of volunteers—actors, dancers, singers, musicians, artists, and technicians—who come together to create performances that are family-friendly, high-quality, and full of heart.
We believe great theater should be accessible. You shouldn’t have to travel to Portland or Seattle to experience something special. You can find it right here! The people you see every day, at the coffee shop, the hardware store, or serving brunch—bring extraordinary talent to our stage. PAPA exists to give them a place to shine and to give our community a chance to support and celebrate them.
With the continued support of our volunteers, sponsors, donors, and patrons, we’re able to keep community theater thriving at the edge of the Columbia River.
Curious to visit? Come find us at Fort Columbia State Park in Chinook, Washington—just above the tunnel. We’re the first historic building on the right. Even if the theater is quiet, the park is always worth exploring, with a hidden beach and cove just below waiting to be discovered.
